Drivers in the UK need to meet the following requirements:

1. Vehicle Registration Document: you need to be able to provide proof of ownership of the vehicle, usually with the vehicle registration documents such as the "log book" or the V5C certificate.

2. Driving Licence: In addition to having proof of ID, drivers must have a full, valid driving licence issued within the UK, EU, EEA or an International Driver Permit (IDP).

3. Insurance:  You need to be able to provide proof of insurance (third party or above) including for any unit being towed, such as a trailer or caravan. Your proof of insurance needs to include the name of the insurer, the number plate or other information to identify the vehicle, and the period of insurance cover.

You do not need a green card for driving in the UK if your vehicle is insured in the EU, Andorra, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Serbia or Switzerland.
