Cherbourg is situated at the Northern tip of the Cherbourg Peninsula and provides an excellent gateway for travel by road to and from the North and East of France, Paris, and onwards to Holland, Belgium and Germany.

PARKING
Short term parking is available in front of the terminal building and is free of charge. There is no restriction on time.
Long Term parking is available at the terminal building beside the police and customs offices and is a fenced in area. The cost is €3 per day for a saloon car. Rates can be dearer if your vehicle is longer or higher. The security agent attached to the terminal building is responsible for the cost and for collecting the money.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT
RAIL:
Cherbourg's railway station is at the end of the line from Paris and regular services operate to and from Paris-Saint-Lazare via Caen.
There is no public bus service between the port terminal and the railway station. It is possible to take a taxi (cost between €8 and €10), or you can walk to the railway station (about 30 minutes).
